2023 Summer Camp

FAST FACTS

WHERE:

    • For the third summer, we are on the campus of Grandview Prep School, 336 Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33431

WHEN:

    • We have 8 sessions (weeks).
      • June 5th through June 30th and July 10th through August 4th

TIME:

    • 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

COST:

    • $360 - DISCOUNTED  to $265 (prices from 2014)
      • Our mBot robotics sessions are discounted to $365 because campers bring home the mBot robot & some accessories.
      • Our MakerCamp and Fabrication Camps are also priced @ $295 to account for the materials and items your children will bring home.

REGISTRATION MINIMUM:

    • No minimum required. You can enroll in only one week or as many weeks as you need.

REGISTRATION FEE:

    • There is NO registration fee - EVER!

AGES:

    • For children 6 to 14 years old.
    • We separate campers into two groups to allow for instruction to be age appropriate and challenges are ability specific:
      • Ages 6 to 9
      • Ages 10-14

WHAT IF MY PLANS CHANGE?

    • If you enroll for any of our sessions and then your plans change, we allow FREE, unlimited session changes from now until May 31st.

Video Game Programming w/ Scratch

Campers will learn to program using a wide range of coding platforms, including one of the most popular video game software packages available, developed by engineers at MIT's Media Lab. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning programming skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative online game challenges.

This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning programming skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative online game challenges.

mBot Neo Robotics

Campers will get their very own mBot Neo robot, which they will build, program, expand, & change to complete our daily challenges.  Campers will take their robot home on Friday!

Note: The cost of the camp is adjusted to include the cost of the robot that campers take home.

Creative Computing

Campers will stretch their programming skills using a wide range of coding platforms including one of the most popular video game software packages available, developed by engineers at MIT's Media Lab. Campers will use computer coding skills to create art & music projects as well as storytelling, animations and much more!

Young Filmmakers Camp

Campers will learn to write short stories using Pixar's "story spine," then capture and organize short films.  Students will be given the choice to work in small groups, or alone. We will upload all projects to a Google Drive folder and share the folder with families at the conclusion of the camp.

Fabrication - 3D Design and Printing

Introduce your child to the world of digital fabrication, where they can produce in the real world whatever they can imagine and create on a computer! We will work with powerful 2D and 3D design software that is appropriate for kids, but still able to make complex objects. Then we will teach your child to produce their designs on a variety of digital fabrication machines, including the Creatlity Ender 3 Pro (3D Printer), the Glowforge Laser Cutter, the Silhouette Vinyl Cutter, the DrawBot and much more! Participants will take home all of their creations!

This camp is for kids who like to make interesting, artistic, and technical inventions! We will make a variety of amazing projects that move, draw, fly, grab, and most of all make kids think.

Introduction to Robotics

Combining colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch, SPIKE Prime continuously engages students through playful learning activities to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. From easy-entry projects to limitless creative design possibilities, including the option to explore text-based coding with Python, SPIKE Prime helps students learn the essential STEAM and 21st century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow... while having fun!

Vex IQ Robotics

Campers will be utilizing building, programming, and mechanical engineering skills to complete daily challenges with our Vex IQ robotics kits. Each day we will bring new and more complex challenges that will stretch students' abilities to new heights.  Each student will get to choose to work alone on their own robot (based on availability) or work with another camper.
