2017 Summer Camp at Boca Raton

Summer Camp hours: Instruction begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

Extended Care Options: We offer morning and afternoon extended care options at additional costs.

Don't forget: There are NO registration fees! EVER!

Summer Camp Cost: Camps range from $330 to $500 per session. Prices are based on cost of materials, software, etc.

Age Restrictions: We offer camps for children ages 6 to 14. We divide our campers into age-appropriate groups to match curriculum and children - ages 6 to 10 and ages 10 to 14. 

The Schedule: In each "session" we offer "camps" for each age group. You will choose the camp that best fits your camper's interests. 

Note: In the 11 years of Digi-Camp's existence, we have made only one schedule change that effected only one registrant, but in the spirit of full disclosure - Digi-Camp reserves the right to change camp prices and content based on demand, available space & equipment, and staffing structures. 


Session 1 - June 5-9

Ages 6-10

Video Game Programming Level 1 & Minecraft Camp - Ages 7 to 10 - $345

Campers will learn to program their own video games using one of the most popular video game software packages available - developed by the engineers at MIT. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning video game programming skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative Minecraft challenges.

Maker Camp - Ages 6 to 10 - $370

This camp is for kids who like to make interesting, artistic, and technical inventions! We will make a variety of amazing projects that move, draw, fly, grab, and most of all make kids think.

Ages 10-14

Video and Film Production Level 1 Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $345

Campers get to bring their imagination to film. Campers will write, storyboard, cast, rehearse, film and edit their own stories. We use state-of-the-art video production equipment including cameras, and digital non-linear editing tools.

Lego Robotics and Programming Level 1 & Minecraft Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $345

Campers will build and program Lego EV3 Mindstorms – designed to help children take ownership of the learning process, enabling them to actively develop the problem-solving skills and collaborative outlook necessary to become creators, not just consumers. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning robotics and coding skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative Minecraft challenges.


Session 2 - June 12-16

Ages 6-10

Video Game Programming Level 2 & Minecraft Camp - Ages 7 to 10 - $345

Campers will take their own video games to the next level, learning how to include advanced elements including gravity, scorekeeping, levels and more. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning video game programming skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative Minecraft challenges.

Lego WeDo Robotics & Minecraft Camp - Ages 6 to 9 - $345

Campers will complete a series of challenges which require engineering, creativity, and imagination to solve problems using the LEGO WeDo robotics kits. WeDo helps teach how technology plays an active role in the students' everyday life and is an ideal product for teaching across different subjects at primary levels such as Literacy, Science, Mathematics, Technology and Engineering. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning robotics and coding skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative Minecraft challenges.

 

Ages 10-14

Video and Film Production Level 2 Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $345

Campers will take their video and film to the next level, learning how to include advanced elements including green screen effects, key-framing, and much more, using Final Cut Pro X's advanced editing tools.

Lego Robotics and Programming Level 2 & Minecraft Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $345

Campers will complete a series of challenges which require engineering, creativity, and imagination to solve problems using the LEGO robotics kits. The goal of these projects is to advance young makers abilities in the tools and processes behind robotic development and programming. As with all of our workshops, the ultimate goal is to give children the ability to create almost anything they can imagine using what they have learned. This camp employs a split day format where campers get to spend the morning learning robotics and coding skills, and the afternoon is spent completing cooperative Minecraft challenges.


Session 3 - June 19-23

Ages 6-10

Young Filmmakers Camp - Ages 7 to 10 - $345
Young filmmakers learn to storyboard, script, shoot and edit their own short films. Projects will include silent films, music videos, short stories, and more.

Jr. Robotics Camp - Ages 6 & 7 - $380

It’s never too early for kids to learn programming and building skills! Our Jr. Robotics Camp will give 6 and 7 year old campers the opportunity to make simple robots perform complicated tasks in a fun and challenging way. The week will focus on learning to program by using block-based coding languages to get their robots to complete a variety of missions. By the end of the week, campers will be creating their own challenges.

Intro to Robotics - mBot Camp - Ages 8-10 - $480

Each camper will build their own mBot – a fun but powerful robot with motors, sensors, and the ability to be programmed using the Scratch programming language from MIT (the same language we use in our Video Game Programming I and II camps). Campers will bring their robot home at the end of the camp. Young Makers will learn to program their robots to move and to react to its surroundings using light and distance sensors. Children will learn by completing a series of fun challenges that will allow them to teach their ‘bot to do surprisingly complex things.

Ages 10-14

Video Game Programming Level 1 & Minecraft Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $345

Creative Computing Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $375

Campers will use computer coding to create art projects, 3D printed objects, tee shirts, video games and much more. We will take your children's knowledge of computer coding and bring it to the next level.


Session 4 - June 26-30

Ages 6-10

Stop Motion Animation Camp - Ages 7 -10 - $345
Campers will get to bring their ideas to life. They will develop their own stories using elements of plot, setting, rising action, conflict, and resolution. Once characters and backgrounds are made, students use computers, webcams and special software to bring their stories to life! We will cover idea development, storyboarding, prep and production, lighting and composition and of course, shooting and editing.

Young Engineers Camp - Ages 6 -10 - $370

Introduce your child to the world of engineering through building, play, cooperation, and thought-provoking challenges. At different points in the week, campers will work individually, in pairs, and in teams to solve simple to complex engineering challenges.

 

Ages 10-14

Fabrication Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $370

We will introduce your camper to the world of digital fabrication, where they can produce in the real world whatever they can imagine and create on a computer! We will work with powerful 2D and 3D design software that is appropriate for kids, but still able to make complex objects. Then we will teach your child to produce their designs on a variety of digital fabrication machines, including 3D printers, paper plotters / cutters, and a CNC machine. Participants will take home all of their creations!

 


Session 5- July 3-7 - No Camp July 4th

Ages 7-10

Photography Camp - Ages 7 -10 - $355

Campers will learn to use digital point-and-shoot as well as DSLR cameras to capture beautiful photographs. We will dabble in lighting techniques, rule of thirds, leading lines, and even photo editing techniques. We will take several field trips this week to take beautiful photographs.

Ages 10-14

Web Building with HTML, CSS, & Javascript Camp - Ages 11 to 14 - $280

Campers will learn to use the web to tell rich, interconnect stories using blogging, graphic design, animation and a wide variety of skills. We will teach the beginning levels of HTML, CSS and Javascript languages, as well as helping kids develop good clean graphic design skills!

Drone Camp - Ages 11 to 14 - Just Opened! - $415

Too often kids are given toy drones as a gift, they get flown a few times, and then either they break or end up buried under all of the other toys that have become boring. Our Drone Camp will turn the toy drones into tools, while adding to the fun! Campers will learn to fly and even program their drones while participating in a challenging sequence of missions and competitions with fellow campers. We will even teach campers to maintain and fix their drones so that when the week ends and the drones come home they will be used over and over.
Price includes a drone to take home, extra propellers, and safety goggles.

Minecraft Modding Camp - Ages 11 to 14 - $385

Campers learn to modify Minecraft using a system that was designed to introduce kids to basic programming concepts through their favorite video game. Campers will make a variety of mini-games like “Capture the Flag” as well as create their own blocks, mobs, and items, and reprogram their Minecraft world in ways only they can imagine! Included in the price of the camp is a one-year subscription to the Learn To Mod online programming system that we will use in the camp so that your Young Maker can continue to program inside Minecraft once camp is over.

Rocketry Camp - Ages 10 to 14 - $380

We will introduce your camper to the science and fun of rocketry! During the week of camp, we will build a variety of rockets using air, water, and chemical propellants. Participants will build their own launch platform to take home, along with the four rockets they will build during the week! In addition, they will learn about the math and science behind rocketry by using a simulation software to predict the flight of rockets they build, along with the Kerbal Space Program software to simulate and launch life size rockets to orbit and beyond!


Session 8 - July 24-28

Ages 7-10
