Micro-Robotics

About Micro-Robotics

Campers will dive into the world of programmable microprocessors this week, and will learn how to use MakeCode and Javascript to program them.

Projects will include creating simple games using buttons and sensors on the microprocessor board, creating art and music using speakers and LEDs attached to the board, and even using the board as the “brain” for a small robot and remote control system that we will use in various challenges and competitions.

At the end of the week, campers will bring all of their projects, including the robot, home with them so that the fun and exploration can continue.computer at home.

This camp is for children ages 12-14.

A Few Details

What will kids take home?

Your campers will bring home a their own robot, built and programmed with a microprocessor, along with a handful of accessories to expand its capabilities.

Campers will also bring all of their projects home with them so that the fun and exploration can continue.computer at home.

Why Programming?

Programming is a highly technical endeavor but it doesn't have to be boring. Our instructors make learning object-oriented programming easy, fun, and intuitive. Since campers are bringing home their own computer, the motivation to learn and code in Python is imbedded and strong.

Prerequisites

Campers should have had some experience in coding - Scratch, Code.org, & Hour of Code are great starting blocks.

What's Next?

After taking our Micro-Robotics Camp it seems natural to enroll in more complex coding languages such as HTML, Javascript and eventually Java. As coders become proficient in Python we encourage our Minecraft Modding course, the Web Building course.
