About Photography

Your children will be immersed in rich photography content including photographic composition, digital media tools, and digital photography tips and tricks. They will learn to use our DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras. While we encourage campers to bring their own cameras, if they have one, it is not required. (Bringing your own camera gives us the opportunity to help you discover the features it comes with.) Your children will embark on several field trips during the course, which may include nature preserves, museums, and the beach.  They will create collages and work with digital photo editing tools.

This camp is for children aged 7 to 14 and the camps are segregated by ages 7 to 10 and 11 to 14.

A Few Details

Photography Field Trips

In previous photography course we have visited Gumbo Limbo, Green Cay Nature Preserve, Morikami Park & Gardens, The Boca Raton Museum of Art and a few other local spots that present excellent photo opportunities.

Your children will travel in a 15 passenger van with seatbelts and our all adult staff - no driver is allowed to be under 25. Typically we leave campus around 9:45 a.m. and return at about 2:00 p.m.

Why Photography?

Your children were born with immense creativity and rarely get the chance to demonstrate it in school. In our photography course we encourage trial and error, taking on new challenges, and being your true creative self! We have seen some incredible results when children are given an open world with only a camera to capture it!

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for our Photography course. We do encourage campers to bring their own camera - if they have one - so that we can help them discover the features that are built in. Those who do not have a camera will be given the opportunity to work with our stock of point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras.

This course is intended for children aged 11-14.

What's Next?

After taking our EV3 course we try to point children in the direction of learning more complex computer coding though our Minecraft Modding course, Web Building, or our series of course in Rasperry Pi offered through our sister company Young Makers Lab.
